William "Bill" Malcolm Williams (1927-2011) was a Canadian metallurgical engineer. Williams was an Emeritus Professor of Metallurgical Engineering at McGill University. Williams was born in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales in 1927.〔 He won a scholarship to study at the University of Bristol, rejecting Cambridge because “he didn’t want to dress up for dinner.".〔 In the early 1950s, he moved to North America, acivent positions in Rome, Chicago and New York before getting to McGill. Williams commenced lecturing at McGill University in 1960. According to Jonathan Kay, Williams was "a spry, thin, purposeful man. And I often would see him gardening or walking briskly around the neighbourhood in his tapered tweed trilby hat". At McGill, where he taught for more than four decades, until his 75th birthday in 2002, his friends included then-principal David Johnston, whose eloquent tribute to Williams’ life was read out at this month’s memorial service. The four-word summation delivered by Williams’ colleague Rod Guthrie: “a perfect Welsh gentleman". He died on January 27, 2011 from cancer and a brain tumor.〔 ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「William Williams (academic)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
